Fuel gauge not working, please help.

Ok i've had it with my no fuel gauge thing, i've tried three clusters all wich worked great when pulled.. Now ive cleaned all the connections, chainged the tank switcher switch and yes the float works, i tested it before install.. The only thing i did thats not stock is i am only running only ONE tank, so i dont have a splitter valve on it. I found a wiring diagram on here, and wired the two wires i needed together "front tank sender wire to gauge wire" and ive checked that connection i maid it's good.. It act's like it works in reverse maybe, if thats possable.. Realy dont know, but it almost let me sit on the way home from work today and i realy wanna get it fixed before it does and i find myself trying to bleed the system along side the road.. So any idea's what could cause this, i'm sure plenty of you have had the same or simular problem..

My fuel gauge recently stopped working as well...I figured the guage just quit working...but now you've got me wondering!!! I have a new fuel sender in one tank, a known good used one (guage worked fine previously) so I don't know what happened. Everything in mine is stock though, still have dual tanks, factory switch and wiring too...what gives?

The one in my '85 doesn't work, I just fill it every other day. Not sure whats wrong, looks like the wires on the tank were cut and spliced, or maybe the selector switch is dead.

Well i realy wanna fix it, or if all else fails get a gauge that matches my pyro and soon to be boost gauge and wire in an aftermarket one.. But i realy prefer a working stock one..

Thaanks for the diagram's, those are the same ones i used for crossing the feul gauge wire and feul sender wire. Wich i asume should work fine since normally the selector would just do that internally.. I dont know, i just asumed if i connected those two wires together it would work??

I was just looking over the diagrams again, looks like i also have to jump the wires 1 and 2 in the plug as those are the wires for the switch that switches tanks, and the switch would be wired thru the gauge so the gauge could work either tank...
Think i'll try that and see if it works, if not i'll get a new pigtail and junk yard tank switch valve and just install the valve on the frame and plug the new pigtail into it so that the gauge part will work. Shoulda just letft it on in the first place, but i figured why have it on there when i'm only running one tank.

Fixed it, turns out wires 1, 2, 3 and 4 all need to be wired together for the gauge to work..
