buddy of mine has a nice flatbed that hes willing to trade for my 4:10 gears and my dually bed that i have. thinking about doing it for mpg reasons. he will be giving me his 3:55s with in the deal. my question is i think his front is a 44. its a 89 or 90 model f250 gasser. will the front diffs interchange? im kinda lost here. im not to worried about his going into mine because i have access to the original 3:55s out of mine but will mine go into his?

dana 50 and dana 44 gears will not interchange. The dana 50 ring gear is 9" and the 44 is 8.5". Looking at your sig you should have a 50 if im not mistaken.
If you look on "the ranger station" there is some really good articles on the ttb. They are mainly about the 44 and 35 but there is some info about the 50 also. I read up alot on there when i wanted to do a "cut & turn" on my ttb but my plans have changed.

I know i have a dana 50 but not sure what the 89 or 90 has. Its a gasser if it makes a difference.

It all depends on the GVW. The 50 came in '87 and newer f250 with a gvw of 8500. Otherwise it would have the 44hd. If it has the 5.8/351 it should have the 44, if the 7.5/460 then it should have the 50. This should be correct but i would double check his axle just to make sure

The locking hubs is a good way to check. The Dana 44 locking hub is smaller than the Dana 50/60 locking hub. That's the easy way I check.
