So, I was in the middle of front wheel bearing replacement when I found that the previous owner had installed the inner spindle nut (dana 50 TTB) backwards. This meant the locking pin was smashed off and would require replacement. Because of this I had to order a replacement nut and the truck sat on jackstands for several days. When I got back to it I found that the diff had started to leak, and I determined it was out of the drivers side axle seal. My question is: is this just because I left it sit with the spindle nuts off, letting presure off of the axle shaft, relaxing the seal ? Or was failure just waiting to happen. In other words, if I re-install the spindle nuts will this leak quit, or do I have to replace the seals now?
