Ford only part?

My 4x4 and low range switch that triggers the lights on the dash has taken a poop in my tcase. I called the local autozone and kragen and they told me its a dealer item only. also looked on rockauto and could not locate it. Dealer only item?

sounds like junk yard only piece. No way I would pay for that from a dealer, they would eat your wallet for it.

i think thats what i am going to have to do. cant seem to find one online anywhere.. Im also going to pull the switch out and see if maybe i can clean it.

Are you sure its the switch or the actuator?

x2 on the Boneyard part.

Do you have a pic of it? maybe you can get it off a Bronco as well.

If you have the low range and 4x4 lights, you have a 1356.

I have a question now, on my 89 the low range light doesnt work on the one that says 4x4, and when i pull it in 4lo it still just lites up 4x4 in the dash

That is the way it is soposed to operate. When you click into 4x4 the 4x4 light will come on. Then when u go down into low range the 4x4 light as well as the low range light should be on at the same time

I ment to say my 4lo light doesnt come on, just the 4x4 light

oo hahahah i get it..lol sorry. that is exactly what mine is doing right now. now if you get under your truck and un plug the connector from the tcase. take a paper clip and stick it in one of the pins or both if you want both lights to come on. then ground it. turn on your key and if the light come on then its the switch. thats the problem im having just my 4x4 light comes on but if i ground both wires at the plug my 4x4 and low both come on at the dash so i know its the switch.

definatly wouldnt buy it from a dealer i priced a hub that my local junkyards didnt even have that i sheared and they watned 698$ well had to order it from a junkyard 50 miles away...for only 55$...broke two shock mounts on the rear and one on the front in the same month and only place i could get them from new was ford dealer and it cost me 180$ well i couldnt get a used rear shock mount because they are industrial riveted to the frame and they were all rusted out anyway...the front lower shock mounts from the junk yards had the traditional hey im worn out bend that almost touched the axle so i just bought it new also...so only thing i would get from the dealer is a sucker out of the jar at the parts desk lol
