Coolant filter $40
eventually the water used in your cooling system causes failures that pound the hell out of your wallet over and over again, especially if you own more than one vehicle. I cant afford to use water it just rubs me all wrong. When growing up they all said water was the best coolant, I learned the long hard way water is fer drinking not inside my engine.
Cooling systems are made to be sealed and not fail, until you add water, now you have a steam train. Job Security is always Job1
No!
Running pure coolant is not a good idea.
Most municipal tap water has those same dissolved minerals. Only where municipal water comes from surface sources is it soft enough not to use a softener. Even then, municipal water contains chlorine which is corrosive. In any event, the key has already been stated - tap water initially, a couple of fill/drain cycles (before adding anti-freeze) with distilled, will get all but a trace of the tap water out.Tap water is OK to flush, as long as it's NOT Well water. Well water contains many dissolved contaminates, such as Lime.
Pure water has a lower boiling point. Okay to run it during the flush/fill procedure, but don't drive on it.Just water is fine as long it don't freeze.
Based on his sig, he likes the Evans water free stuff. It's supposed to be good but it is pricey.
I even go for several years between changes without ill effects, as far as I know.
