Ferret timing adapter- who has one?

I bought one of these a couple weeks ago and got it last week, but haven't had a chance to play with it yet.

I was reading the instructions and it says to clean off the #1 injector line and attach the clamp to a straight section of line near the injector. I noticed the #1 line makes a sharp turn to go into the injector, but has some straight sections on either side of this bend. Does the clamp have to go RIGHT above the injector or can it go a couple inches up the line?

i would get as close to the injector as possible.
