Thanks to the info here on the idi forums, i have chucked the old 1g alt and the mechanical lift pump into the nearest dumpster. Im not a mechanic but combining these two swaps was pretty straightforward. The thing that was tough was cranking out the air in the stock return lines, had to recharge the 4 yr old batts 2 or 3 times. But the new alt keeps them above 12 volts.

One question tho: how does the wif sensor ground to my wix fuel filter? PO had it on the old alt -post.

If you don't have the spin on bnowl on the bottom of the filter, then there's nowhere for it to go.
Don't worry about though.
Just drain your filter every now and then.
I used to do mine pretty often. After the initial first few drains, never got anything else out.

the stock fuel filter has the sensor in it that plug would attach too. i run a filter like yours and most have a threaded plug on the bottom to accept the sensor itself. you could go to the auto store and buy the little sensor, screw it into the bottom of your fuel filter and that connector would then attach to it
