E40D OD Lite

The OD lite on my shift handle is off when OD is off or on. Is this a burnt bulb or indication of something else?

If it is burnt bulb, how do you replace it?

The light indicates when the OD is OFF. It's sort of cornfusing I know... but it's an OD OFF button so when you shut off OD the light lites up to indicate that it's OFF.

Clear as mud???

Now for the light being burned out - never heard of one burning out before so can't tell ya how to replace it.

TX argve. The lite quit working just a few days ago when I turned the OD off. That lite will flash whether OD is on or off when you get a TQ slippage code, stay on steady whether OD is on or off with some other type code, so I was wondering if it stays off all the time if it is some other code?

Maybe a burnt lite. Gotta figure it out. Maybe just disconnect both batteries and reconnect to see if it starts working again.

you can buy the bulb at the stealer ship.i forget the cost now but its not hard to swap out.
the plastic end cap just pops off and the bulb pulls out and the new one slides in.just be carefull with the plastic end cap,the little tabs break very easy.

Have you read the codes on it yet? I know that Autozone here has a sign out front that they will read codes for ya for free - suspect it would be the same at all autozones.

Could also be and most likely is a broken wire going into the shifter.

I'm hoping it is just a blown lite, but I'm also suspecting a wire problem because it started flickering like a loose connection before it went out. I'll check the bulb before I pull the steering wheel.
