This all pretains to the engine.
The early 99's (built before 03/22/99. The 99.5 starting with engine serial # 896812) have quite a few differences. Here are some of the changes for 99.5 1. Fuel pump off the engine to frame mounted electric pump. 2. HPOP from a 15* swash plate to a 17* from 6.8cc to 7.2cc per revolution.. 3. Different injectors. 4. Different fuel bowl. 5. UVCH gaskets from a dual connector to a single connector. 6. Updated the turbo charger, 7. The CAC heater is PCM controlled. 8. Glow plug relay bracket modified to accomadate the relay for the air intake heater relay.. 9. Map hose changed from a 90* to a straight hose. 10. Fast idle changed to engine oil temp below 55* raise the RPM to 1100 RPM. 11. Air intake cover changed to 3". 12. Fuel filter changed for better sealing. 13. Fuel pressure regulator. 14. EBP changed so the PCM controls it. 15 Hi pressure oil gallery plug O'ring changed.
About all I can think of for now.
Your 97 has the 15* oil pump, the smaller 2" (maybe 2 1/4"...2 something anyway) intakes, non wastegate turbo, obviously no intercooler, single shot injectors, mechanical fuel pump....the early 99 is kinda like a mix between the later and older engines.
