There should also be a corresponding recess at every other stud on the hub surface for the "coins" to allow the flat face of the wheel contact with the hub.

Good point. I'm gonna check the seating surface on the inner wheel vs. the drum/adapter plate. I'm getting the idea that I may not be able to easily switch over to the hub-centric wheels without some axle changes and front hub extension changes. I would like it, but it just seems like a lot of work and money to make the switch.
