Yesterday I was helping daughter with yard duties like planting 2 flats of st augustine. Following her to get her Acura TSX oil changed. While on the freeway exchanges I found myself with about 3/4 throttle gaining speed to merge into traffic when I saw the boost gauge nearly pegged past 15 lbs..
I backed off and saw it drop so I added power and watched it climb. Pyro was at 750 or so and engine felt fine. So I help the rpm on about 2700 till the boost settled out. I have not done anything to my engine in months other than check the timing on my rental meter to insure they work before shipping them. No fuel turned up or and work. Only thing different was I left the fuel tank cap loose because I have been getting a vacuum on that tanks after I did the harpooning of the filler modifications. I have usually heard the vacuum hiss whenever I open the tanks to fuel up. No matter how long the truck can sit it still happens. My rig can sit not used for 4 or 5 days at a time. I think its time to remove the filler necks and install a 1/4 inch copper vent and see if anything stays the same. Still can't figure out where the extra 4 or 5 lbs of boost came from.. Maybe a worn out Banks gauge..

fortunately, no lasting effects from that event...
