the isuzu diesels in the small cars and small trucks were great if you didn't mind slow(really low hp). unfortunately, most were killed due to the lack of maintence. Most people who owned their first diesels thought low maintence equated to no maintence needed. If you do find one, check for oil change intervals and blowby.

Are you sure it was the S-10? I thought it was back in the days of the Luv. Never seen, nor heard about a diesel S-series.

Agreed, the Luv had the same platform as the Isuzu P'up there for awhile no? I've never seen an S-series with a diesel.

A friend of mine saw one at auction. Not sure if it was a Blazer or a Jimmy. Found a history site http://www.s10blazers.com/sserieshistory.htm that says they were produced in 83, 84 and 85 2.2 L. Be cool to have a Mercedes 300 TD in one, but a nightmare to do all the adapting (if it could be done). Oh well just a pipe dream, I just wondered if anybody had tried something like this. Still want to build one of those VW/Samuri diesels I have the motor just waiting for a Samuri or Tracker to come alond at the right price.

That link is a good find. I've never seen a diesel or even heard of a diesel in the S series. I wonder if it was over seas models?

This is an idea I've been knocking around for a while. 3.9L 4BT Cumminsin a '93 S10 Ext. Cab. Old Frito Lay trucks had the 4BT's with the TH400 adapter plate on them already. Would bolt right up to a 700R4 in an S-10. Probably get 30-40 mpg to boot.

If you're interested in theseswaps, there's some good info floaing around www.cummins-conversion.com

Worth a look if you're considering it. I'm in the process of converting a 1988 Chevy K3500 to a 6BT Cummins right now. AKA, I'm still collecting parts lol .
