Well thats great that you figured it out and fixed it. What you can do is drill a small hole in the fuel tank cap say around a 40 or 60 drill bit size or run with the cap loose just to see what happenes. Themn tighten the cap and see what happens. After I removed my tanks and installed a 1/2 inch hose off the rollover vent location I pull a vacuum on the tanks both front and rear because the line is plumbed into the fill neck. Nothing is vented to atmosphere any longer. I can hear the tanks venting the vacuum when I remove the caps for a fill up. To fix this I need to remove the steel fill necks and weld in a vent line nipple. Then run a 1/4 inch line up in a loop to keep the dirt and water out of the tanks.

Maybe between the lack of a vent, and the electrical problems, the combination was just too much. Since this is a 6.9 swap into a 79 F-150, the electrical system is in a state of "progress". Though the alternator is connected, the wire to the internal regulator that activates it is not. As a result, if one forgets to CONNECT that wire after starting the engine to go for a drive, the batts don't charge. Relying on a charger that was only putting out 11 volts didn't help too much. Life seems to be good again! Thanks for everyone's help!
