I recently purchased a '94 IDI E-350 which was said to have a bad rear end and that it made noise. I removed the cover and drained the oil and all gears seemed to be in good shape. However, when I poured the oil out of the pan there were fine metal shavings in the bottom that looked like silver glitter. They were so fine you couldn't feel them between your fingers.

Any help or suggestions?:dunno

I have seen that before on good rear ends that have never had a fluid change.

Its funny you put "No, that red truck on the avatar isn't mine." cause I was going to ask you for more pictures. Its awesome.

Check the bearings - Dana 60s often spin the bearing on the flange side of the diff case.
