well the bed i bought from the junkyard its got a huge dent in the tailgate on the inside the first thing i noticed but anywho when i got the bed back to my shop the first thing i did was take the bedliner out and clean it all out underneith the thing and set it aside while i clean up the rest of it so today i open my tailgate put the liner in and close the tailgate i go to napa to get some tiedowns for the courners of the bed i go to open the tailgate to put all the parts on it and whadda know the thing wont open the left side opens and the right side dosnt is there some kinda special way to get these things to open that i dont know about or whats the deal on the inside there is the bedliner part that goes over the tailgate and an aluminum protector on the top so i figure well i will go take all this crap off and there should be some kind of access plate or somethign under the thing so i go and take all the screws out of the bed liner tailgate piece and go to take the aluminum thing of the top and theres one screw that when they put it on must have snapped the head off so i think ehh no big deal well i was wrong you cant get the plastic bedliner piece off without getting that aluminum thing off the top and i cant get the damn thing off i tryed drilling it out that went horribly wrong i got a hole above the screw and below it anyways i think when i got in the back of the truck and stepped on the tailgate the dent hit somethign on the inside and did somethign well is there anyway to open this tailgate with out me dicking around with that damn broken off screw???

DBogo I think you have no other choice then to mess with that damn screw. I had a tailgate that got bent real bad when someone pulled my truck out from under a GN trailer with the t/g up. I messed with it for a long time and finally just yanked it from the truck.

You can go to a good tool store or a big box home improvement center (Lowes is where I shop) and get a tool that extracts "boogered up" screws. It attaches to your drill. All it is really is a bit that is "reverse threaded", so when you drill into the screw, you are actually extracting it. Check out the "Tool World" section if you have a Lowes near you.
