Sorry for my lack of knowledge on this stuff but I got the valve covers off. All the bolts are tight. Spring packs appear to be in place, none broken. The pushrods all appear to be in their grooves and straight. Nothing looks cocked or out of place on the rocker pieces.

Just oil up top that I can tell, no milk or anything.

So if I start it up and run it, is there something obvious I should look for or would this mean that all those parts are going to be moving like normal and its probably a head gasket?

The truck is definately harder to start like this. I even had it die a couple times after catching? I have an electric fuel pump and fuel is primed so I don't think its that.

Once that is over with though it will idle on its own although it would seem it could die at any time. No abnormal smoke from the pipe that I can tell.

And when I step on the gas it seems like the truck is reving out smoothly and masks the huffing and ticking, but there is still something different noise wise.
