Cryo/Cold Tempering...

So here's the deal. Could not get the stock gear ratio planetary/gear set for my C6. Can get the gear reduction, but it's not a cure all application, and I did not believe it suits me...so...talked with Hughes. He suggested a cryogenic process (tempering). So I'm taking my gear set in to be cryo tempered tomorrow. Wonder if there is any real benefit.

Cryo processing is really only a stress relieving treatment, I am not sure how it was being sold, but it doesn't help ultimate strength really.

the guys i know that have had parts cryo treated have all reported lower failure rates. this is mostly with ring and pinions and chromoly axle shafts.

we have almost everything cyro treated in a 6.0 we built. rods, oil pump, gear train, ect. no issues so far. truck is making 750 to the rear wheels with a 100 shot helping it. maybe more now, just got done putting twins on it.
