cruise conversion questions

the other day i drove my friends 85 diesel with the cruise control and loved it. i have an 86 of my own but without the cruise. if i wanted to put cruise control on it how would i go about doing this. i went to a junkyard and got a cruise control steering column to replace the other one and just need some advice about the rest of the installation. thanks

This should give you an idea of what you are up against of you want the full OEM setup:

1985 speed control

Simple summary would be:

1; sensor at the transmission end of the speedometer cable

2; speed control servo installed under the hood in the rear, driver's side corner of the engine bay (includes the second throttle cable)

3; speed control amplifier module that is installed to the left of the steering column inside the dash near the lower edge.

4; brake and clutch pedal suspend switch sensors need to be connected

Over all its actually quite involving and I would try and retrieve as much of the wiring from the donor truck as possible.
