no i think more like 6-7" per side the whole axle is wider I think.

Yes they are wider, as well as the drw from a cap n chassis is different than those 2 as well I think.

I dont have the exact measurements off the top of my head.

the rear in side dual runs in the same track as the front tire so you have a whole tire with sticking out back on both sides.

there is a difference between pickup and commercial chassis dually rears. THEY DO NOT INTERCHANGE HOUSINGS OR AXLE SHAFTS.
commercial chassis dually rears are the narrowest from backing plate to backing plate.
pickup dually rear is the widest from backing plate to backing plate.
the hubs and drums will interchange as well as the third member. nothing else will.

So I assume one would only want to buy the C&C rear if they are putting on like a flat bed or dump and dont want the wheels sticking out any?

C&C frames are 34" center and pickup frames are 37" center.
C&C springs are narrower and shorter compared to pickup springs. pickup springs have a "softer" ride too.
