Hey guys my 1990 7.3 idi is giving me a headache. I bought it with the attention to make it nice and keep it. But this coolant leak is killing me. The radiator was bad and the t stat and the hoses so I replaced all of those. But I still have coolant on the passenger side that's coming from somewhere. I pressure tested the system at work but found no work. So I cleaned everything off started it up and drove it home and when I got home there was coolant again but only on the passenger side. Any ideas?? I've looked at the block heater the heater hoses. nothing is wet.

if you answer some questions this forum may be ale to help. Can you tell us where the coolant is seen on the passe3nger side of the engine. top.. Front or bottom of engine. My educated guess is either the thermostat gasket area or the block heater.

Bottom the coolant is all on the power wire going to the starter.

Could be the upper radiator hose that connects to thermostat tube. Mine leaked from there and got coolant on starter. All it required was a couple turns on hose clamp. Worth a look see.

Check the heater hose and the fitting in the head right behind your dipstick tube.

So I checked everything it's not leaking but I do have white/grey smoke when I down shift coming out the exhaust.

Take your fan belt off and wiggle your fan up and down to see if there is any play in the water pump, when those wear out they will seep out the bottom, although it may not look like it is coming from there the fan can blow coolant all over the place.

If you can, see if you can sniff the exhaust when it smokes. Antifreeze will have a slightly sweet smell.

Also could see if ur coolant looks like coffee. That means headgasket - at least on a 3406E Cat...

My antifreeze looks green like it should my oil level is full and it's not milky looking I think my timing is still off by a long shot though.
