Congrats (Oilburners forum working well) on a solved problem, Poorman.
My '93 7.3 IDIT wouldn't start (turned ignition & nothing) one day about 50 mi. from home...popped the hood & looked around - noticed the cable from the pos. battery clamp to the solenoid had broken at the
solenoid connection. I got a BCAA tow home & next day found an auto electric shop that offered to make up the 14 inch cable with soldered connectors at both ends. (cost $7 cdn).
This must have been a gradual thing...hadn't noticed any decline in performance but when I had a replacement cable made up & attached it, the improvement in how it ran was
noticeable. Promised myself again to get the battery (hold down) part it needs so that the battery's not sliding back & forth in the tray & weakening that cable's connection to the solenoid.
