Clutch Start Switch?

Every so often my truck will not crank when I turn the key. I hear a solenoid noise like the starter relay from somewhere under the dash or in the engine bay, but it does not turn over. I usually press the clutch pedal in/out again, try again, and it will then crank up. Starter is new.

Is this my clutch pedal switch out of adjustment? Or the relay going bad. I know the clutch switch is a common problem. The only reason I am even asking before going in there to adjust or bypass it, is the solenoid click. I'm not sure where the clutch switch interrupts the start circuit. 10 minutes looking through a service manual did not answer that question.

Lots of slop in my plastic bushing. I happen to have another one at home. I think that is the issue... will also check for firewall movement.

It would have to interrupt the circuit before the fender solenoid, the wire gauge is too small to do anything else. If you're hearing the click I would assume the clutch safety switch is fine.

Try manually jumping the solenoid on the fender. I'm guessing it's going out. They're not very expensive. I have one that still clicks but won't contact.

I'll check that. I may have a replacement in my garage. I got a box of spare parts with my last IDI truck.

Think its the solenoid. Happened to me again, definitely hearing a loud click from the passenger side of the engine bay. I'll swap it out this weekend.
