anybody know the coud point of winter #2 and 50/50

Anywhere between -10 and +40 deg depending on how crappy the fuel station is. In other words, run Howes in every tank and don't worry about it , because you can't depend on fuel station operators to provide fuel that is going to stay fluid for you
A couple of years ago I was up in IL at a big name truck stop and the fuel was freezing in the pumps, couldn't even get it out of the ground.A whole bunch of years ago I saw an owner of a little dirtwater truckstop cutting the fuel in his storage tanks with a garden hose

just read that with ulsd many additives dont affect cold performance. does howes make any kind of claim in that direction.
This morning at -8*, cycle plugs once, tries to start then goes flat. zero smoke. guessing my 2 micron filter is plugged. also read that cfpp is measured through a 45 micron screen. They also said that ulsd can have significant wax dropout at temps above clout point and fuel needs to be warmed to 50* to mix it back in.

Howes will not gel up . CHeck out their website and pay attention, for cars and pickups, double the mix ratios on the bottle. For years, they've been the only company out there that has had a deal where they will pay the tow bill for anyone who has been running their stuff all along ( you have to have been running it all along an dbe registered ) but still, I've never heard of anyone geling up on the stuff who followed directions and I've used it in colder than -80 deg f in a big truck in the great white north. I have however gelled up on every other product on the market at one time or another , some at temps very close to freezing.

I'm not sure how much different ULSD is from the stuff they used to make but ever since ULSD came out my truck will start, stall and have a heck of a time getting started when it is cold out right around 30 and below.
The only thing that will prevent this is with a double dose of Power Service anti gel or having the truck plugged in. The Power Service anti gel is cheaper than electric.

We get gelled fuel systems atleast twice a year here because the fuel stations try to sell summer fuel during the winter. Hell, I've even caught one station watering their fuel down. So much that I didn't get 5 miles from the station before my WATER IN FUEL light came on.

A surefire way to know if your fuel is gelled or not is to put some in a jar and leaave it outside. If the fuel in the jar is gelled so is the fuel in your tanks....unless you added some additive.
I run PS during the summer and Howes during the winter. Heck my wife even knows that you gotta run the stuff...granted it gets pretty cold in ND from time to time...lol

still woundnt smoke after being plugged in, got filter warmed up, and got it running. this was with a double dose of power service(that apparently doesnt work). Probably just going to screw a 10 micron filter on as Ive had problems at 0* ever since ulsd. my suburban has the same fuel, but a 12 mic filter, and didnt have any problems.

Not sure why you are having issues. Seems to be alot of IDI's out there without ULSD issues....

I bet it is that 2 micron filter, it is getting replaced with a 6 or 10, and Im going to build a heater.

I like the heater idea. I thought most were a 5 micron. But I did a little research and found that there are many 2 micron on the market....

It needs a turbo...
Now if you dont think about it, you will start to lose performance after a while if you leave the heater on too long. It will cause the fuel to boil...and if you start to get that tooo much boiled, it can spell bad things.
Got a buddy who had a heater in his mercedes and it was a good thing. But he lost power one day and his wifes grand am was running him. He realized what happened and it was like instant power.

wow, what was his heater setup? I can only hope mine works that good.
