I removed my CDR to clean/ inspect it and it had quite a bit of oil in it. Also when I blew through it it was wide open, is it suposed to restrictive? I just want to be sure it is working properly. This is on an 87 6.9L.

To clean it just put it in some solvent or gas and shake it around a bit then let it soak. It should not have a restriction, Its porpuse is to pull closed at high RPM/engine vacuum to prevent oil consumption/enging runaway.

Normally if it's bad you may find small chunks of the rubber diaphram in there. Clean it with gas in a pan not harmful solvents that may eat at the rubber. Also my experience is if it's International grey paint, buy new. Think about it over 20 years of service is long enough(preventative maintanance:rolleyes: ).
