I emailed the guy, hope to hear back from him. I'm only about 2 hours away from there and they would be handy to have. Seems like a fair price too

Sadly there is no parts nor any factory support for these meters. I had a brand new mt1480 meter that did not work. The black box was broken and I sent my meter to the only shop in the us to fix it.. Never got it fixed. I wanted to keep it because it was new. In the special shipping box and had the warranty card still attached to it. A true museum piece. I finally sold it on ebay but made sure the new owner knowe it would not time a diesel because of the issues. This meter appears to have that magic black box but I'm not going to bid on it. There are no luminosity probes avaialable other than what I have for these meters. I never see them offered on ebay either. Mine came in the meters I have bought over the years as extras. In one of my kent moore meters that came broken I got 6 luminosity probes. When I told the seller that I wanted a refund because the meter was clearly advertised as not broken when in fact it was and how much the lumi probes were worth he told me to pound sand and look harder at the pictures for the broken case. So I filed a complaint. Left negative feed back. That really set him off. So he told me he would send a return shipping invoice but I had to send it back in the same box he sent it to me in plus it had to have ALL the packing in it...:angel::angel: I had all that but I just waited for the time to run out on the complaint. I left my back feed back too. then I sold many of the lumi probes and made back my cost plus another $400.00.. Sometimes your the bug.. sometimes your the windshield...:D

Ya I talked to our snap on guy this morning and he confirmed he can't get parts for them, but I was hoping maybe make one good meter out of the 2?

Also I had him do some checking for a timing meter and he came up with snap on part number MT257B. Looks kinda small to be a timing meter, but the description says its a pulse timing meter. Didn't know if anyone had a little more knowledge than I do about these? Brand new 300$ id be interested if in fact it would work

No machinists on the group eh? Getting harder to find all the time. The lumi probe is just a glow plug shaped core with the center drilled out and a glass rod epoxied in there with something that can take high temps. One could be made on basically any metal turning lathe worth the name.

It appears neither of the two meters are functioning correctly.

Strongly suggest one passes on the deal, as non functioning they are not worth the coin.

They way its described, a guy could salvage parts off one or the other to make one whole working meter. But idk for sure

I read it and fully understand his sales pitch....don't think it's going to work mind you, again I would say steer clear unless both for like 50 bucks total! Two pieces of non working stuff...are still two pieces of non working stuff, and selling as that price should reflect it!

I don't think he's trying to pitch anything. It seemed to me he was being honest. One's missing the probe, the other the main display is messed up. Sounds like the display could be fixed. And if you could get or "make" a probe. You'd have 2 meters.

The thing I always wonder is why didn't the guy do that himself? Any mechanic ought to be able to handle a job like that.

The analog meter (MT 480) has the flywheel Hall effect sensor, but does not have the sensor that screws into the glow plug hole. I believe the piezo-electric pick up for the MT 1480 will work for this, but I never tried it.

What is he talking about? The Lumy Mag is not a pulse timer, it has no piezo, it uses the same lumy-probe the analog meter uses. But then I'm seeing something on top of the Lumy Mag in that first picture that's not part of that system...

The mt 1480 meter has no lumi probe so it can't time that way. It needs the harness and the lumi probe to work that way plus it has a display issue. Who knows what that is and nobody has parts or will EASILY REPAIR IT... Now the 480 has the lumi probe harness but no lumi probe. I have a lumi probe for that unit and they can't be purchased from Snapon either. I just have some spares from other meters.
I do have 2 meters I will sell just like I did a few months back. These are the Kent Moore J33300 meters. I will take $150.00 for one and $200.00 for the other one. The cheaper meter has a broken lid to the case it comes in but the meter works just the same. PM me for more details on these. I may be listing them in the market place with more info later on.
