I just finished making a "box" around my stacks and which is housing my big air tank. I made it from a sheet of 12 gauge steel. Take a look!.

Well that solves the problem of how to install your quick-connect couplers so they're both protected and accessible, don't it? lol

But, tell me something, oh thy who does such magnificent fab work, how are you going to open that lid if your bed is full of stuff right against the box, thus blocking access to the latch?

Hey, better have some debby-downer bring up the issue now, than you discovering it later on the side of the road.

You know what you could do is get an old GM electric trunk latch mechanism with the motor. They used these in many cars through the 70's and 80's and most GM trunks used that same latching mechanism that you have there. That way you can wire a push button release inside your cab!

trunk latch from a fullsize car, go raid any fullsize Ford passenger car from the '80s or '90s and it will be bolted to the trunk lid with a two-wire harness going to it. Button will be either in the glove box, or down on the driver's door by the map pocket.

then i could wire it to an output from my alarm system with a relay and use my key fob to open it
