My truck has the old cable speedo in it and I would like to make a custom gauge cluster and use Freightliner gauges as they have the smallest speedo n tach (about 3" diameter) all the rest are 2" and there is a wrecking yard here that has lots of goodies for me to gauge this truck right out. Can this be done somewhat easily with some sort of adapter or where might I start??

Take a look at Isspro electronic speedos. Many of the big trucks are Isspro OEM anyway, but you can also get them straight from Isspro. Probably $150 or so, but you get a good item. I really like they're EV line, but even the non EV are good.

I'm running a 8530M, 3 3/8" unit. It works well off the rear ABS sensor on the 10.25 axle. On the programmable one you just set the dipswitches to the calibration number you calculate and it's right on. Plus when you change the rear end ratio or tires it's very simple to reset.
