as above, want to change all the drive train fluids, cant get pipe plug out of front diff - any suggestions? soaking in AeroKroil now.......1986 F350 4x4 cab and chassis
Two things are your friendFor a stuck pipe plug.....vibration or heat. The big thing is to take strong action before something gets rounded off or broken.
First I would find a short stout flat ended punch about 3/8 OD and set it into the socket of the plug. Hit it with a good size hammer like you mean to drive it right on through about 3 whacks. Then give it a try. Extensions are poor for high torque on socket head plugs because the hole for the socket retainer ball weakens it. Not everyone has the specific bits for these but they are best.
If this doesn’t work heat the plug with a torch ( you can’t hurt much with thick cast surrounding) Let cool am go for it again.
