Its actually worse. Have a friend in heavy civil construction he has a couple F- 450s and 550s. They need to be smog checked once a quarter, and I forget the actually year, but its some time around 2010 and older on the F450s and up, if they are diesel, you can not register them in California. Nevermind that they have the same engine, and are actually detuned, as an F-350 and that is perfectly fine to have. The laws in this state have gone way past actually caring for the environment and air and is now into naked power and money grabs.
If your car passes the smog levels then it shouldn't matter what's on there, but if the parts on your vehicle are not OEM or does not have a CARB number then it automatically fails. What is a CARB number? Oh it just shows that the company paid the state a bunch of money to get on their special list, so the product cost 3 times as much.

No emissions testing here (so far).

How about the idiots in MA? They want to be just like the idiots in CA.

Other States have them, too.

Speaking of EV busses, whenever they break down, they usually sit in the lot on average 3-9 months
Imagine owning a fleet, and having a vehicle down for that long that you're still paying for.
