Broken Exhaust Manifold bolt

So anyone here have any tips for removing a broken exhaust manifold bolt? It looks like its broken off flush with the head.

No i didnt do it. I pulled the motor out of another truck and didn't hear the exhaust leak till i put it IN my truck and really romped on it.

Already soaking them in PB to get the rest out. Hoping i can drill the one out and call it a day.

When you drill it out , be sure to use a left hand drill bit. Sometimes after the soaking the left hand bit will hang just enough to spin the broken piece right out!

Once you get the manifold off, if there is any thread on the stud sticking out past the head and you have a welder handy, you can tack weld a nut onto the broken stud and you should be able to back the broken stud back out of the head.

I would also soak it with some heat! Welding a nut on will do this for you if there is anything to do it, the bolt will expand at a different rate than the head and "break" the hold the rust has on it. We used to do it all the time in the machine shop and generally, once you got a hold on it with something, after heating they would almost thread out by hand...if it was something we couldn't heat, generally they would end up drilled, tapped and/or helicoiled.
