Took the turbo off to inspect it for a prospective buyer, turns out it has some shaft play.
Not enough to touch the housing, but damn close.
Strange to me since it boosted great and sounded good. Now I wanna check the turbo on my 94 PSD to be on the safe side.

there will always be some play. the shaft rides on a hydrodynamic "wedge" of oil.
as long as there is no collision with the housing, you are gtg. remember this is not a ball bearing turbo.

My banks kit has the same side to side play. End play and housing contact is what you don't want. I was worried about mine until I just decided to install it. Good boost here.
