The manufacturer balances them separately. And pressure plates get replaced quite often if you have employees driving a truck. When you’re taking the time balance and engine for a rebuild, you’re hoping to go through several clutches before then engine ever needs to come apart again.

The friction disc is very low mass where it counts, so nothing is needed there. The pressure plate is balanced carefully at the mfr because it is a replaceable part. If you bolted on a new clutch and the driveline started shaking like crazy, where its the first place you would look?

I have heard of plates being drilled off center, but that is the exception, not rule. Maybe some Chinese factory got a broken drilling jig.

No, do not bother with the disc or pressure plate. They are already fine.

I paid $350 to get mine balanced, this was almost two years ago. the difference before and after is noticeable, there's less vibration at idle and at speed.
