Aftermarket block heater?

Hey,
I'm new here but this looks like a great site! Anyway, i have an 85' f-350 that I bought not long ago. The block heater was removed by the original owner before it caused any problems, but now there's no way to heat the block (obviously). The guy I bought my rig from said he looked into an aftermarket kit that functions like a block heater, but didn't give me any specific information. I searched the internet but found nothing. Days are getting cold outside, so any info that you have about an aftermarket block heater would be appreciated. Thanks!

Can't help you with the aftermarket heater, but welcome to the site. This site is the best of the diesel sites I haunt wrt to free flowing info without so much BS.

I'm going to need to do some horse hauling here pretty quick to get rid of the B100 I've got in my tanks, or, with this cold weather we're getting, I'm going to have some slushy fuel I think....

Most farm stores and NAPAs carry a variety of block heaters that can, replace the freeze plug, cut out a section of lower hose and insert it in there, insert into heater line. or if you're feeling rich, you could get a diesel fired Espar and walk out to a nice warm truck on the coldest of days.

Do you make your own or buy from sequential? I ran b100 through last winter and never had it gel up on me. I kept some in a clear container outside to see if it ever got cloudy on cold days but it always stayed liquid, though it did have a noticeably thicker viscosity on the coldest days.

Hehe, boy we took this thread in an entirely different direction didn't we? I posted in your other thread about the BD...I'm not rolling my own yet. I've been getting it from Sequential. I haven't had any problems so far, but it hasn't been cold yet either. I figure I'll just buy 5 gallon jugs of the B100 and mix it myself at the (closer to me) local pumps with dino diesel when it gets very cold out.

no, i was planning on it, but i couldn't find much used oil. seemed like everyplace i went to get oil said that it had all been sucked up by other people making their own biodiesel. maybe some day, but for now i don't mind paying the extra money to get it from sequential.
