Well I think it is finally time I pulled my 7.3. My oil pan is rusty as hell and needs to be changed. The final straw though is a transmission leak; I don't know where the leak is but I suspect the pump seal, gasket, or torque converter.
My question is specific to servicing the transmission with the engine pulled. I am hoping the leak can be serviced with the engine out - does this make sense? Transmission was a quality rebuild 100,000 km ago.
My plan is to pull the engine, replace oil pan, new engine mounts, rear main seal, reseal oil cooler, maybe head studs, and service transmission. Anything else?
Oh, and I have a spare turbo block that I will service and swap so that will speed things up (my original block is non-turbo).
I have an 5 ton excavator for an engine hoist so that is not an issue. Plan is to pull hood and rad.
