A whole Litany of 6.9 questions!

First, the rear of the crank isn't bored for a pilot bearing. Am I going to have to have the crank machined for one, or is my Chevy background showing?
Second, are the oil coolers interchangeable between the 6.9 and 7.3? on this 6.9, the oil filter is at the rear of the block, and on my 7.3 it's at the front.
Third, It looks to me like there is an adapter plate bolted to the rear of the block. are there other adapters available for different trannys?
Fourth, what is the exact measurement of the hole in the intake? or better asked, is there like a certain size coffee can, or butter dish or something that works well for sealing off the intake for storage?

1)the pilot resides in the flywheel.
2)oil coolers are interchangable. your 7.3 front mount may be out of a S-series IH.
3)yes there are other adapter plates availible. depending on the trans you want hooked up to the butt of the motor, there are different units out there. problem is the starter placement is a huge hurdle to overcome.
(4)duck tape is your friend.

Alright. Thanks for the info. Is there any real significance to an "S" series engine? I figured there was something different, since all you guys can run the powerchoke oil filter, and I'm stuck with that short stumpy one. (on the 7.3)

The intake hole is the same size as a Carb.Just get you a cheap plastic carb cover from a race shop.We use them all the time when Washing our dirt car.

I thought they were the same. If that is the case, they are 5 1/8 inches.
