Any ford dealers around? Have the obd2 flash done.
Otherwise, look into the bluetooth obd2 adapters, plus forscan, torque pro, and car gauge pro.
If you plan to keep the truck awhile, maybe even look into autoenginuity.

and that's for the obd 1? they flash it to be obd 2 I'm a little confused? and I've heard of some of those on these forums which is the best in your opinion? that can actually give me some insight on what's happening. I plan on keeping this truck. my grandpa has owned it since new and with all the new parts I've been putting into it it's not going anywhere lol.

yes the new ipr was starting the truck just fine. for about 30 minutes it would repeat the same thing. start then die after about 30 seconds. then eventually after about 15 starts even after charging the batteries back up and everything checking voltage wiring etc. it won't start and it was running fine before when the new icp was installed
it was a brand new ipr installed also.

Would have been easier to keep the other thread going.
Personally, I'm still on it being a fuel issue.
If you run android devices, I would go with the obdlink mx bluetooth adapter, then you install the apps I mentioned. But if the flash wasn't done, it may or may not work. Autoenginuity will work regardless, but you need a laptop to run it, and it's about $400.

no I don't believe any flash or anything was really done to this truck other then small maintenance things. I have a laptop but don't have 400 to spend on that program at the moment is there any other ways to check without just throwing parts at it? all of this really started to get worse after a friend was fixing the fuel bowl harness wiring pressure washed my whole engine bay with a 4000psi pressure washer.. could water of gotten into my idm and fried it making a no start condition with no smoke?

okay I'm gonna pull it off and see if there is any signs on water or anything inside of it. and go from there. could my ipr be just faulty out of the box? it was from Napa claimed to be a ford dealer part.

Get a code reader! I sold my 2004 6.0 to a good friend last year. Two days ago He called me and said the turbocharger needed to be rebuilt because the boost control ring was not working. I asked him if he had a code reader. HE said yes but it was 300 miles south of the truck. I told him the turbo did not need to rebuilt if he did as I asked him to do. "Don't baby it, drive it like you stole it and you will be fine". I hung up and six hours later he contacted me and said the truck ran GREAT! A connector came off the MAP sensor and that was causing his troubles. He did get a second cheap code reader. Saved himself a lot of time and trouble. GET A CODE READER!
