'89 F-350 front tow/pull attachment

Hello,

I just needed to move my '89 F-350 today, and I found out, (actually I never realised) that my Ford Bricknose doesn't have anything in the front where I can attach something safely to pull her with?!?

are there amongst you who found a sturdy solution for my problem? Pic's would be welcome.

I'm thinking of some form of tow bar? so that I also can manouvre trailers around?

A tow bar wouldn't help you move trailers, but depending on how far you're trying to move it, that may be your only option.
If not very far, I would find somewhere to wrap a chain/strap.
I have a tow hook on each side.

Maybe I didn't use the right words, I do like to have some form of trailer ball (like in the rear of the truck) to move a trailer over my terrain where if I have to do that in a regular fashion (at the back of the truck) I can't get there, or only with huge effort (cramp in my neck and all those) and mostly if you connect your trailer in the front, it manouvres easier because of the place where the steering wheels are.

apart from that, I like a point sturdy enough where I can attach a recovery sling, winch cable, or kinetic recovery sling.
all that since my truck must be multifunctional. I do use trailers regular, and I'm building this one to go traveling off of the black top.

I drive/drove a Dodge W-200 for more than 25 years, and I noticed that one had from factory a sturdy (but not enough) frame member under the radiator carrier.
My Ford has to the contrary nothing sufficient sturdy where I can attach something to and eventually give it a big yank to extract my truck, and after my truck is on the hard ground all is still there and in it's place.

This morning I needed to move my (temporary not running) truck, and apart from the spring shackles (which is not really a good place to attach something to) I couldn't find anything.

You could fashion some kind of tow hooks like in the pic. You would have to cut a hole in the bumper and weld maybe a large eye bolt to the frame, or replace one of the bumper bolts with an eye bolt.

I'm thinking of some form of tow bar? so that I also can "maneuver" (corrected) trailers around?

To move trailers around, you would have to have a trailer hitch for a tongue hitch ball, for a 5th wheel trailer, a bed mounted 5th wheel hitch is required, a goose neck trailer requires a goose neck ball mounted in the truck. There are combination hitches for 5er and Goose neck balls.

Thanks Bill, I might have a look at those eyes.
Over here we have only bumperpull trailers. 5th wheels are the sole and sacred terretory of the semies (articulated lorries)

When I had an RV business, I fashioned a 1/4"T x 3"W x 1"L channel iron across the front bumper using the front bumper bolts to fasten it, then welded a 2" receiver tube to it, using a 3 way (1-7/8"--2"--2-5/16") solid hitch bar. That way I could maneuver the trailers from the front like you want to do. You may have to use a wider channel iron depending on the bumper bolt configuration.

IIRC, I found someplace that sold class 2 or something hitches to fit the front of our trucks (etrailer maybe?). They fit inside the frame rails. What I did with Bruiser was cut the rear most arms off a spare class III/IV rear hitch and bolted it to the bottem of the frame with a 3/8" by 6" long piece of angle iron on the forward most mounting points to secure it to the frame. I've used it for logging (big stuff), recovery and to move trailers around with no problems.

This was before buttoning up. IIRC I used all 1/2" bolts.

Updated post with pics. I'm not sure how well it will work with the diesel core support, but I plan to do something similar on the Enterprise when I finally do the D60 swap and front shackle reversal. Won't be much room in there after that, but we'll see.

I know they sell the hitches for the front, but are they readily available in France, don't know. They are really nice for launching boats on a trailer.

I looked on Summit Racing after posting the pics and all the front hitch receivers they have are for OBS frames. Looked elsewhere and found them for the bullnose and bricknose frames, but they all stated they aren't for diesel trucks. So it looks like the best way to get one on a diesel trick is to fab up your own or get a winch bumper that has a receiver built into it.

Different year model but my RSK has one. If it didn't, I'd get a separate one...they are mighty handy.
