I may have asked this before but what years do 10.25 axles interchange? My buddy swears up and down the '97s and the '88s are interchangeable. I have my doubts about this, though....can someone chime in and help me out? and if you have any rain to spare send it our way!!! I get tired of picking the ticks off the catfish here.......:)

I am pretty sure that 87 to 97 are mostly the same. One main difference that I know of is the Pinion spline length is less for models before about 93. They are still stout but more at risk of the pinion failing. For models 93 and after they have a slightly longer yoke. I'm not sure if Ford changed the drive shaft lengths or not to compensate.

Only difference between a 88 and 97 axle is the yoke splines as already stated, wheel seals, inner wheel bearings, and possibly u joint. Ford used 1330 big cap and 1350s. My 83 has 1330 big cap, my buddies 87 has 1350, but the 94 10.25 I pulled for my 83 had a 1330 big cap yoke. It was out of a small block f250 though. Split for the splines and seals are April of 94. 10.25 and 10.5 gears interchange all years
