86 f250 6.9 will only idle

My friend payed 600 for a truck that will only idle. The truck has a new lift pump and fuel filter. Will run at idle, but not very good, and if you hold it at wide open throttle, it will only increase rpm's by about 100. Can't get it to rev no matter what. I'm thinking ip? But i have never seen one go like this, is there anything else it could be?

Lots of air intrusion? How ancient (or wrong?) Are the injectors? Maybe a contender for incorrect timing?

It ran fine until one day it started doing this. But the ip and injectors are"original" truck has 300,000 so I'm pretty sure it's time to do them anyway

Undoubtedly your due for a fuel system rebuild. Sounds like your metering valve is stuck.

It must be the metering valve.. I was giving it throttle under the hood right on the ip.. I'm going to run diesel Kleene through it and see if I can get it to free up.. My friend is too cheap to buy some nice moose products so I'm guessing he is going to run this thing till it stops running then give it to me! haha
