6.9 and 7.3 adapters

I became interested in what other transmission options we had. When I found out that IH used Allison AT 545 auto's in some of there applications I wondered how. What I uncovered was that the back of the IH v8's that we have is a SAE2 when you remove the adapter on them. All you have do is get the proper SAE adapter and do the necessary body mods to put what ever flavor you want behind you IH V8.

You'd have to look at a IH SAE bellhousing adaptor to see how it'll hook up. A member by the name of "1320Cummins" has a '88 IH S-1600 that had a IDI in it. He blow it up and replaced it with a DT466. I bet he has the IH IDI bellhousing.

I'm hoping that this post will bring others out to tell us of there experiences and solutions also. I hope 1320cummins comes by here also, it would be cool if he has the adapter. If he doesn't show up i'll PM him.
