i will finally be getting to the HG job on the cummins and figured maybe add in some new fuel parts.

pretty much looking for some guidance or recommendations on the good or bad.

this is my work/plow truck so im not looking to go crazy with. i plan on getting a new edge tuner and a little bigger injectors, injection pump and an adequate lift pump.

i have herd of guys using exergy injectors but for a set is over $2,000 but all others seem to be in the $800 area.

I worked for Cummins most my life as a mechanic , in the end trying to think we know more about the engines then Cummins engine co is a joke .
Injectors need to match the fuel pump/turbo/pistons and injection timing ..
if not you end up with a damage engine .
Once the engine smokes black thats it for more power ,,, needs more air .
smoking black is also unburned fuel inside the cylinders .
Unburned fuel around the rings .
Unburned fuel eats or pits in the piston above the top ring gland .
Leads to heat cracked pistons and what is called debond where the top the piston breaks off.

Advise on Getting more power should come from Cummins engine co.
Best of luck .

Thread back from the dead... If Cummins knows their engine so well, why keep manufacturing blocks with the kdp flaw and only one cam bearing for so many years before addressing it?

i guess your looking for a axe to grind ?
Like any other engine maker makes 100% perfect engine ?
They all have issues.....and that wasn't what my post was about !
Your dragging my post off topic , Why ?
Not here to debate who makes the best engine ,,,
Didn't join this forum for petty arguments or any kind of Drama.

I have seen allot so called hopped up Cummings Diesels , even done a few myself .
The engines I modified were in Semi trucks and one 5.9 in my company service truck , yes they made more power , but also generated more heat .
They generated enough heat you couldn't keep your foot into the throttle and had to let off to the point when pulling a hill that the stock engine was just as fast as the modified ones and at the same time no heat cracking the top of the pistons .

If your looking for a engine to last i advise not trying hop up one if its for everyday use .
I am not talking about a engine set up for tractor pulls or racing .
,
Good Day ..

Well I would say if it runs that hot EGTs you need a bigger turbo.

I ended up getting 7x9 100hp injectors. No tune and stock turbo thing ran pretty mint. Got a tuner now and just put a big Garrett turbo on, gonna find out how she goes. Hx35 is wayyy to small
