1991 Refrigeration Fitting Sizes

I want to purge and service my a/c and would prefer not to change the existing fittings. My manifold hooks up properly to the low pressure side on the evaporator but the fitting on the high pressure side is smaller and would need an adapter. Does anyone know the size of the high pressure fitting or have an adapter part number? I'm on the road and have limited tools with me and would like to get everything together for when I return.

What freon are you using. I'm guessing your using the 134 type freon.

I believe this is the one you need. chris142 is correct it is 3/16 x 1/4. Ford is the only one to use this stupid fitting to my knowledge. I looked on the two that I own and there is no part numbers on them. Best if you try it at the store to make sure it is correct.

many manufacturers used that size in the 80's. the big 3 for sure.some imports too.

Thank you guys. I'll check out that fitting when I get home later this morning; there's an Autozone a few towns over.

Yes, I'll be using 134a. The plan is to run the vacuum pump for a few hours, make sure it holds the vacuum, and then service.

ETA: Is it recommended to change out the accumulator? I don't remember them being that expensive...under $30 or so.
