If I could get a decent 4x4 cab and chassis that would most likely have a gas engine in it What kind of diesel engine would fit? and how much would something likt this cost to do ? Has any one ver done such a thing to keep a old chevy with leaf spring front end in service?

I believe if were me I would do the D-Max/Alli. Havent done it but I bet you would have more room than the new ones have, may have to cut for the tranny. If a 454 will go then surely a D-Max will. Peanutgwr is always doing this kinda stuff. Send him a PM but fair warning he will talk your leg off.

Rick, If you search the TDR you will find the Cummins part #'s for the conversion. They make adapters for the trans and mounts and hoses. I read that on there and can't remember the part #'s
