ok, ive got it all striped down.
about to replace leaf springs, and noticed that my ball joints were beyond wasted.

i have a ball joint press, and ball joints.

but...

how do i go about getting the knuckle off?
looks like with a few blows of the baby beater the top one is loose.
ive tried slapping the lowers, but they will not budge.

is there something im missing?

Some panther ****, maybe some heat or a fork. Give the knuckle a few hits around the ball joint area. This usually pops the loose. If not break out the heat. If it gets real ugly, break out a pickle fork.

Don't forget to cuss at it. A little sweet talk can scare them off.

They are.
It's done with that sleeve for the top balljoint. Can get different degrees.

the ******* sleeve on the ball joint press is too short.
the lower ball joint bottoms out on the collar of the press before it comes out :(

well that was a damn chore.
when the leaf springs came out, the driverside had a broken bolt.
all 4 bushings were toast.
all 4 ball joints were wrecked.
shes back to 100% again.
instead of trying to do the ball joints myself, with the press thats very time consuming,
i took them down to the machine shop and used their press.
20 minutes to pull and press..
will never do it any other way...
i spent 20 minutes just looking for a sleeve to use!
then....
after i get her all back together, took her down the freeway, the damn battery light came on!
a new alternator fixed that quick!
