I was looking for a real strong starter for my 7.3idi. The old 2.5kw starter had a hard time .... cold, hard totstart... hot, hard to start.
I found out our starters use SAE1 bolt pattern, 10/12 pinion pitch and 46-47mm from flange to pinion end.
Then there were more then "fits idi starters" to...
Do we see the same pictures? All pictures here shows 2 frictionplates forced apart by 2 thrust washers. The frictionmaterial transfers the torque to the 2nd flyweel , the clutchside. If you remove those 2 thrust washers there are nothing that stops the 2 flywheelmasses to rotate independently...

Gearbox is up again , but have not started her up. No fueltanks, missing fuel lines , no brakes in the rear.Rust. A lot of work to do......:rolleyes:
I might be one of the new guy's youre talking about...? Have been here for nearly a year, but only 2 posts. Joined before I bought my idi. Great forum with all info I need.
Maybe I can bring some new ideas to you from Sweden..... Hope I can give you a new DMF mod soon, but have not tested...
