Searching around a few different forums, I have found some contradicting views on deleting the muffler on my 2002 HO CTD. Some have reported a +1 mpg increase and lower EGT's deleting the muffler, and some have reported a 1-2 MPG decrease deleting the muffler which doesn't seem logical...
I rolled under the dually that I just bought and checked the rear diff gear oil. Was about 1 inch low and had small metal shavings in it.
Should I just change it a few time in hopes to clean it up? Or should pull the axles and bearings and flush the tubes and clean all out of the bearings...
Just taking a look at this truck I just purchased (1991 D350 Dually 5 spd) and I noticed that the GVWR sticker in the door jamb is hand written. Is this common? It says 3880lb for the front and 7500 on the rear and then says 10500 gross. Shouldn't it be 11380? Even that seems a bit low...
So I bought this 1st gen yesterday, it is a late 1991 dually 2wd. It has a 5 speed but I don't know which one. I gather it could have a NV or Getrag. The shift pattern is R=down far right, 1st=up far left, 5th=up far right. Anyone know or is more info needed??
