I was at work looking through my 5 gallon bucket of bolts I’ve gathered. Since the majority of my work at the dealer is warranty, I end up replacing a ton of bolts even if there perfectly fine, especially on the engine. The majority of the small fasteners I have left over are black m8 flange...

Gentleman, gentleman!! There’s enough of me to go around LOL I hope the Oilburner.com overlords will understand that even when I’m not working on my idi, I still like to post things just to check in on all of you guys! I started posting on here when I was still a sophomore in highschool, now I’m...

Well over the weekend I guess I made a little progress. I moved my 7.3 motor from my house to the shop. So now I’ll be able to tear it down. I figured you guys would like the pictures. I thought my bladder could last the 30 minute drive home from work, until I was about to *** myself. I lasted...

So I finally got the front clip mounted and the fender liners in. It took me a minute to get the fenders lined up and during the process it became very apparent that ford was not super focused on stuff being straight. The core support was 1/2 taller on one side. The driver fender that I got from...

So we have a big Miller but it’s set up for thick stuff, 045 wire and it’s pretty hard to dial down for thin ****. I used my little Lincoln. I had .035 wire and had everything turned way down. It works a lot better but not nearly as easy to fine tune as the big one.

Me too! I think that’s what I’m going to paint it. Too many trucks are black and white. The world needs a little color. I’m happy to see more new cars with bright colors. I think we lost that for a while.

Finished the firewall. Had to add a little sheet off to one side because it was so thin on that corner. Rattle canned it all black (definitely hit it with a grinder first). Then I finally fully bolted the core support down and pretty much have the fenders mounted permanently. I’m waiting for...

I cannot weld this thin material to save my life. Oh well. It’ll all be covered by sealant anyways. It’s all together and feels much better.

Thanks man. I learned everything from my grandad. I gotta give him props as much as possible. He lives and breathes fab work.

Thank you sir. I wish I had a plasma cutter!! LOL I used the torch. We do have one buried in the loft. I’ve been thinking about buying a little one though. Some of the cheaper harbor freight ones supposedly cut through 3/8 like butter.

Thanks man. I still have to weld it in and I think that’s gonna be the hard part. The firewall is so dang thin!

Do you guys remember a few years back I installed that firewall reinforcement plate because it had a lot of flex. One thing led to another and I found the firewall had literal holes in it from the flex. Decided I’d try to actually fix it. I cut all the bad out. I suspect this will be strong...

In the recent month I’ve swapped the bed over, finished my hitch, bought wheels that don’t fit, and went through my spare zf5. I’m getting closer. I wanted to test the air bags so I hooked it up to my 5th wheel. Fun fact, the trailer is also torn apart but it’s on the inside lol.

Quality Diesel machine in Sacramento is who I contacted. I’d like to use Valley Balance and Machine but they’re down in Ceres. That’s a little far for me to run down to before work. I’m gonna swing by the place in sac and talk to them about how they sleeve it.

I was honestly surprised. I felt weird, like I was grilling them on machining when they definitely know more than me. For some reason a lot of places don’t really mess with idi’s, I’m assuming that all the guys who worked on them have retired by now. I’m not so much concerned but more interested...

I’m kinda leaning towards cutting the pistons anyways to get the compression down a little lower than 21.5:1. I haven’t done the math but I’d like to get it down around 19:1. I believe it’d still start fine in the cold and would take some stress off the bottom end. I know there are alot of guys...

I called the machine shop that did my 6.9 to see if they have experience sleeping 7.3’s. Got quoted 1100 to hot tank, sleeve it to standard, and replace the cam bearings. I feel like that’s plenty fair. I believe they said about 100 to polish the crank. I’ll take the heads to get checked and if...

I haven’t really done a lot in the last month or so because it’s been really hot and work is stupid. Not really stupid it’s just work. Anyways, probably next month sometime I’m going to take the 7.3 to the machine shop and have them check everything out. I don’t want to sleeve it because $$$$...

Yeah man my old work truck was a newer f250 with the same rear leafs I have on this. It road really nice but it squatted down a lot whenever I had any weight behind it. I’m excited to try them out.
