Ignorant diesel newbie needs coolant help

^^^^^ Um, "at this point", it's just as vulnerable to cavitation as the day it rolled off the line. It's not going to be magically immune. Sufficient anti-cavitation in the coolant has a little more importance than a paint mismatch. FleetGuard is a general brand, and they MIGHT make an...

    Box Dimensions for canopy

It's not an Aussie thing. Over here, decades before women started wearing undies that.... scanty, thongs were something you wore on your feet. It's only recently that the footwear has taken on a new name, for obvious reasons. Odd that you can't find a cab-height topper. Around here, they're...

Two questions that may be related

The "bottom gear" is the crank. If the crank and cam gears are not synchronized, well, it'll be like any other engine with the valve timing off. Just how extensive was this rebuild? Did it involve removing the camshaft?

    which is best

Whoa, so this was not just a deal for the engine? Dang, yeah, that was a much better choice than the IH bus, just by the fact that it includes a whole donor truck. Is the donor a 4x4? That Dana 60 could easily fetch $800-1000 by itself.

Fuel tank vent & shower head

With all this in mind, the first thing I think of is a replacement original showerhead....

    Obs front tank sender

Yes, the mechanical action of the FSV also opens/closes the appropriate contacts for the gauge senders. So that _should_ mean, if you see the gauge reading change, that the FSV is switching properly.

    which is best

Did they actually DO or TEST or CHECK anything after that ^^^^^ ? Like, pull the GPs and check for hydro-lock? 'Course, if they let it sit for four years, it may be (no pun intended) water under the bridge.

Fuel tank vent & shower head

^^^^^ +1; remember, between the tank pickups and the fuel filter is the selector valve. No strainer leaves the selector unprotected, and it's neither easy to repair nor cheap to replace.

    Turn signals gave up

^^^^^ +1, plus, electronic flasher is compatible with LEDs.

    Obs front tank sender

Some 4x4 trucks got a skid plate under the front tank. Rear tank, it's the skid plates that actually hold the tank up (no straps). And that front skid plate is heavier than the tank itself, so use ratchet straps to lower/raise it.

Hm, I wonder if one of those cheapo eBay/Amazon USB borescopes would fit in either the injector or GP bore.....

    84 F-350 dually 4wd flatbed, with 7.3L, not a 6.9

    Fuel tank woes

+1; no fun when that supply line starts dumping on you. And you'd be d@mn lucky if you can wash the diesel smell out of whatever you're wearing at the time. I think I washed my shirt about 6 times before it smelled okay, and I just threw out the undershirt. It was probably drawing from one tank...

    Manual shift transfer case

Couldn't you just figure out which two wires on the auto case connector(s) are for the lights, and splice a manual switch connector to those two wires? You'd have to figure out which is for the 4X4 light and which is for the LOW RANGE light, but you could do that by experimentation.

    84 F-350 dually 4wd flatbed, with 7.3L, not a 6.9

16x6.5 would be SRW wheels. 16x6.5K are DRW, from what little research I've done. And I've seen plenty of DRW door jamb stickers with 215/85R15 as the stock tire size. Good eye on the wheelbase; 133" would be a regular cab long bed. And there's no "Incomplete Vehicle" wording on the sticker...

    84 F-350 dually 4wd flatbed, with 7.3L, not a 6.9

But for RIMS it says 16x6K, which I'm _pretty_ sure means dually. They put a TTB front axle, probably a Dana 50, under it. That would be "historically correct" for that year truck, but not long after (mid '85), they switched to a Dana 60 straight axle for the F350, which continued right up to...

From the side, the wheelbase looks like a pickup that has had the bed removed.

    84 F-350 dually 4wd flatbed, with 7.3L, not a 6.9

SRW front, so you get to carry two spares. Engine swap is a good thing. The 6.9 from that time would have been an "early" one, with at least the block heater issue. If it's original, yes, it would be a T19.

    IDI 0-60 Times

^^^^^^ The big difference is, indeed in a Geo or a Honda, it's "YouslowSOB....."; every other car on the road wants to run you over. In my 33-year-old rattle-can-black IDI Batmobile, most other vehicles would get stuck _under_. People may pass me, but they don't push me. And those few who do, I...

    Manual shift transfer case

Shift light? There are 4X4 and LOW RANGE lights. They're triggered by a switch on the case that's separate from the manual or electric shifter. Should be the same switch, two-wire connector. Oh, this is going from knowledge of the OBSes; SDs are probably different. The different linkages are...
