So what did you do with your truck today?

That's exactly why I like these steps. When I bought the truck it had cheapy aluminum steps, and if you actually stepped on them they would bend. Into the scrap pile they went. Rock

So what did you do with your truck today?

Yup, it always seems to sneak up on me. I will be happy if I just get the mechanical and structural things done before then. The cosmetics might have to hold off. I am way behind schedule as it is.We shall see Rock

So what did you do with your truck today?

Not much today after work, but I did get the bed pulled off, to get ready for the flatbed. Planning on a new rear fuel tank and gooseneck hitch while it's off then mount the flatbed. The Zf5 is sitting under the truck right now but not in yet. I had to cut the exhaust and trim the firewall a...

I appreciate the pictures Chris, and I like that setup. Now you got me thinking:bail. Rock

    gooseneck hitch for bricknose

I understand your concern, and I have thought about frame flex, but I came to the conclusion that it can't make much of a difference since most medium duty trucks( around here at least) have welded pintle and gooseneck hitches and run way overloaded. Old pickups seem to be the same way. I think...

    gooseneck hitch for bricknose

It just sounds better when I have an excuse:joker:.:Thumbs Up If it's not too much trouble, I would appreciate a picture of your setup to give me a better idea of it. Thanks Rock

    gooseneck hitch for bricknose

I was planning on welding the plate right to the frame of the truck. In theory, the ball should be low enough in relation to the deck of the bed, that I can have a little trap door for the ball. I will be using U bolts to secure the bed to the truck, so I can't really put the hitch on the bed...

    gooseneck hitch for bricknose

Looks like an excuse to buy a bigger stick welder then, lol. I really only need the gooseneck ball, so I will just weld the plate in. I am trying my hardest to keep this truck on a budget, it ain't working so far! Anyway, thanks Chris, that's the way I will go. Rock

    gooseneck hitch for bricknose

Mornin' folks! I am looking to add a gooseneck hitch to my 87 while I am swapping to a flatbed. I was wondering what the best option would be. I wasn't sure if there are any bolt on deals, or I have to just get a gooseneck plate and bolt/weld.thanks Rock

    Super deal in jersey

I agree, I think dually pickups look good with dual stacks. And what you described is the exact reason truck prices are going sky high. It's them dang yuppies, lol Rock

    Super deal in jersey

I hate single stacks, but mostly because they are so impractical taking up half the bed. Especially the idiots running around with a 55 gallon drum in the bed for the stack. I just want to pull those guys out of the truck and shove em' in the barrel, lol. I like dual stacks on a flatbed when...

    160k 6.9 needs IP. ,6.9 core, zf5 parking brake

I need to sell some junk to recoup some funds here. 85 6.9 with 160k that I pulled from a truck in Gettysburg. I was told it needs an IP. I believe the mileage to be correct as it appears to be the original injectors and IP. Complete motor 85 6.9 with supposedly only 40k since rebuild on it...

I believe I tried buying that truck 2 years ago when it was here in pa for 2500. The guy selling it at the time was a real creep. I can't tell for sure, is it an f250 with duals, and zf5? That is definitely the same ugly stack either way. The truck was pretty beat with unknown miles. Rock

    Glow Plug Idea Question

Same here. My trucks always popped off after 10 seconds on the GPs. I like the smell of diesel in the morning, so I don't care about a little smoke, lol

So what did you do with your truck today?

Picked up the flatbed and got my floorboards shaped up and tacked in. These pictures of the bed are obviously from when it was mounted on the previous truck. It was to dark to get a good pic. Plan is to make some fold down steel sides with expanded metal and removable hinges Rock

I think this one may not sell very fast

I completely agree with that bronco. I had tossed around the idea of selling my 87 after a few 5k offers, but the way prices skyrocketed, I would have to spend twice that to get a rusted out replacement with 300k miles. That's the main reason I am keeping it and fixing it right. Rock

    “The 6.9” project thread

If you want to get looks in your truck, just drive to the Friday night football game during halftime and idle around the parking lot looking for someone. Not that I've done that or anything, lol. Now if you really want looks,my favorite, is when I get a Prius behind me as I am accelerating up a...
