5k rpm in an IDI could be interesting though.

7.3 idi starts, runs, and then dies

I’m going to guess that you have to do a whole bunch of cranking after that to get it to restart. If that’s the case, the next time you go to start it (when you’re expecting this to happen) remove the fuel filter. If it’s not absolutely full, you have air getting in and allowing fuel to drain...

How much is my 94 f-350 drw 7.3 idi turbo worth?

I think that if it were mine and I was listing it, I would ask $11k for it. I know it sounds like a lot, but it looks great, and these trucks are moving up in value.

    Synthetic oil as fuel?

Synthetic oils burn just fine. Typically fill fuel filters with ATF when I replace them, and the only ATF’s I keep around are all full synthetic. No problems at all. FWIW, I don’t do that on newer stuff with DPF/DEF systems.

Possible air intrusion when parked uphill?

I’ll take a crack at these. Cubey answered some of it already, but anyway here’s my take on it. 1). Another thing to remember about the IP is that it is cooled by the fuel flowing through it. The fuel returning to the tank is taking heat with it. 2). The fuel injectors have a valve inside that...

    What's a fair price?

It’s a lot of miles (value wise), but it’s also a very desireable configuration. Used truck prices are up, and OBS Ford’s are gaining in popularity. I wouldn’t be surprised to see it go to $5k or maybe $6k

    Help with abs/brakes on e350

Check the adjustment of the rear brakes. If one side has been self adjusting and the other hasn’t you can get weird behavior like that. The other thing that can happen is if your parking brake doesn’t release fully, the adjusters can over tighten the brakes on that side. And yet another thing to...

Question About Replacing My Injection Pump

I can attest that the factory turbo can remain in place for a IP swap.

    Chassis question

I would guess pivot bushings or spring eye/ shackle bushings. But maybe ball joints or tie rods too.

6.9 injection pump install - no start

It sounds to me like the IP is not getting fuel, or it’s not letting any through. You should be getting more fuel out of the lines than what you are describing. Have you checked to see if you can hear the fuel shut off solenoid clicking? With the key on, disconnect and reconnect the FSS and...

    New engine, No power

The cold advance solenoid is different than the cold idle kick up solenoid. The advance solenoid is inside the IP. It’s the rear most electrical connector, separate from the fuel shut off solenoid.

    86 6.9l water pump

A large crescent wrench and a BFH. Works for me every time. A couple of solid whacks before you take the belts off and it should spin off from there.

If you’re looking for a “caulk-like” sealant that will hold up to diesel fuel, the only thing I know of for sure is Poly Spec Thiokol 2235 or 2282. They are the “go to” in the industry for extreme chemical resistance. They are 2 component polysulfide caulks and rated for immersion service in...

2003 E450 hard start after overnight or longer.

Check output of the glow plug relay with a voltmeter. The wait to start light is not indicative of what the glow plugs are actually doing on these models. I have the exact same truck at work, and it took me quite a while to figure out that the contacts were burned out in the glow plug relay. It...

Fuel Line & IP Deposit Help

Do you know what the previous owner was running for fuel. Because it doesn’t look to me like it was diesel from any fuel station. When I started reading, my first thought was these guys must be jerking this guy around, then I scrolled down and saw the pic. Wow. That looks terrible and I...

    1992 rear axle

The axle nut should be the ratcheting type that takes the 4 prong socket. You push in with the socket to release the locking mechanism. Also I believe the driver side is left hand threads. Here’s a shot of the “by the book” instructions. It’s fairly vague on a few things. Also, if you’re...

So what did you do with your truck today?

Make sure that your compressor isn’t seized up. With the engine off, try and turn the compressor by hand. If the compressor was locked up, I think you could burn that clutch up pretty quickly. That may be a moot point anyway, I don’t know if the clutch is available separately or not now.

    92 Factory Stereo Removal

IIRC the cable for the camera has a wire in it to give the head unit the reverse signal. Usually you would tap into the reverse lights at the back of the vehicle. There is usually a red (rev pos) wire and a black (neg) wire at the camera end of the wiring, and a short 6” or so wire at the head...
